MAYARÍ FRENTE A LA COVID 19 okWith 3 new cases of COVID-19 reported at the close of this Friday, the municipality of Mayarí reaches eleven diagnoses of the disease in the second week of June, a fact that places the period among the highest incidences of the pandemic in the territory.

According to Dr. Raudel García Estopiñán, director of public health in the municipality, since week eleven, in March, Mayarí did not exceed the number of 10 people infected with Sars-cov 2 in a 7-day period.

This exemplifies the weaknesses in the protection of people and the non-compliance with sanitary norms, a fact that is a constant concern of the local authorities.

At the end of week 24 of the current year, a 60-year-old man from La Pedrona and a 42-year-old woman from the community of Guayabo were reported with COVID-19, both without source of infection.

A 57-year-old woman, resident of Leyte Vidal Avenue (near Marina Street), was also positive for real-time PCR and was a confirmed case.

To comply with the protocol that seeks to curb the advance of the new coronavirus, the municipality maintains active seven isolation centers, where until this Saturday 304 patients considered direct contacts of positive cases, 27 of them in the category of suspects for the presence of symptoms related to the disease.

To date, 230 Mayaricans were infected with the pandemic during 2021 and 61.7% of them had no symptoms.
